The Course

The course has a par of 69 with only two par 5’s and five par 3 holes.

The Ladies course has a par of 70 with the 2nd hole allocated par 5 status.

The first six holes chart the perimeter of the course and any wayward shot left will see you finish out of bounds. Another feature is that many of the more difficult holes (as reflected by their stoke index) come early in the round.

It is particularly important in Match Play at Widnes to get off to a good start, since five of the first six holes have a stoke index of 9 or less. Although the homeward nine holes contain three par 3’s, this nine also contains the longest hole, plus a set of three finishing holes that has ruined many a good round.
